Wildfire north of Fort Chipewyan ‘being held’

The wildfire north of Fort Chipewyan (MWF031) is classified as ‘being held’ and not a threat to any communities according to Alberta Wildfire.

Detected on June 25th, and caused by lightning, the wildfire is located 21 km north of Fort Chipewyan and is an estimated 7,650 hectares.

In a press release Sunday evening, Alberta Wildfire stated that there was no new growth on the south boundary and that the wildfire is on the edge of Flett Lake.

Forecasted winds are expected to push the fire towards the north, away from the community of Fort Chipewyan.
