Alberta has released its annual update on baby names, and Noah and Olivia have taken the top spots in 2021.
Some parents got creative with names like Archangel, Chickadee, Tuba, and Jocko.
Other baby names were inspired by pop cultures such as Anakin, Thor, Loki, Mar’vel, and Jedi.
There were 49,938 babies born in Alberta in 2021.
Olivia has set a record for being the most popular girls’ name for nine straight years.
The previous longest streak for girls’ names was Jessica, holding the top spot from 1990-1995.
Noah is now the most popular boy’s name for the third consecutive year.
Ethan holds the longest-held number one spot for boys’ names at nine years, from 2001-2009.
