Fort McMurray Saints offseason filled with accolades

The football culture in Fort McMurray is growing on all levels, leading to numerous accolades in the 2022 offseason.

The Fort McMurray Saints had four players selected to Football Alberta provincial programs.

Graduating Senior Jeff McCracken was selected to the North Senior Bowl team, who beat the South in overtime 16-13. McCracken has also signed with the Acadia Axemen, to continue his studies and play football at the next level.

Alicia Gladue, who also plays for the Northern Spirits Football Team, was selected to the first-ever U18 Women’s Team.

Max Ramirez was selected to the U18 Men’s Team.

Vaughn Pyne was selected to the U16 Western Challenge Team.

Along with McCracken, the Saints had two other graduating Seniors sign with post-secondary programs.

Robbie Buffalo is signing with the University of Alberta to play for the Golden Bears of the CanWest Conference.

Caleb Secord is heading to the CJFL to play for the Edmonton Huskies.

As for Saints Alumni, Keegan Hynes and Blake Jenkins have both signed with the Okanagan Sun of the CJFL, and Dylan Remillard will be joining Buffalo at the U of A.

Lamar Goods, who played for the Father Mercredi Trappers, is transferring from the University of Florida to the University of Northern Colorado in the NCAA.
