18U Baseball Canada National Championship coming back to Fort McMurray in August

From August 18-21, 2022, Shell Place and Ross Hennigar Baseball Park will be home to 10 teams across Canada competing for a national championship.

Baseball Canada has partnered with the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo and Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Association (FMMBA) for the 2022 Baseball Canada 18U National Championship.

This isn’t the first time Baseball Canada has come through the region. Back in 2016 the Baseball Canada Cup came to Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, and again in 2018 with the 18U National Championship.

“In both 2016 and 2018, our region embraced these events as sponsors, volunteers and fans,” said Mike Mayuk, 2022 Baseball Canada Organizing Co-Chair and FMMBA Treasurer.

“This year, after a long period when events such as this could not take place, we know that our region will once again come out to support the event and our visiting guests.”

Tournament Passes for the event go on sale June 13, at 10:00 a.m.

“Whether fans want to take in the full tournament, individual games, or the medal games, we can guarantee exciting baseball action featuring some of the best young players in the country,” said Jodie Cooper, Organizing Committee Co-Chair and RRC Director of Sport and Recreation.

As the host location, Fort McMurray will get an automatic bid in to the tournament.
