RMWB installing new Pride crosswalk

Wood Buffalo continues in its efforts to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone that joins the community, and to celebrate this Pride Month, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) will be working to install a new Pride crosswalk.

Greg Bennett, Strategist for RMWB says the new Pride crosswalk will replace the existing Pride crosswalk in a more visible site.

They’ve chosen the Franklin Ave. and Hardin St. intersection as the new location.

Preparation work is expected to begin this weekend if crews receive cooperative weather, with painting tentatively expected for next week.

Bennett said they are hoping to have the new crosswalk completed in time for YMM Pride Week, which Mayor Sandy Bowman will be proclaiming for June 17-25.

To ensure that a Pride crosswalk is available for Pride Week, Bennett noted that they will not be relocating the existing crosswalk until all required materials are received for the new location.
