Access to Alberta courthouses will no longer be restricted

Alberta Courts have announced that beginning Monday, access to courthouses will become less restrictive.

Access to Alberta courthouses will no longer be restricted to the categories set out in the Alberta Courts’ Notice to the Public and Legal Profession of March 26.

The notice became effective March 30, 2020, limiting access to many members of the general public in all courthouses within Alberta.

As of May 2, members of the general public will once again have access to courthouses within the province.

All other COVID-19 measures remain in place, including the use of Plexiglas barriers, mandatory masking, courtroom capacity limits, physical distancing, and vaccination policies will remain in effect until further notice.
