Councillor Kendrick Cardinal has been issued a violation ticket from police for driving while unauthorized.

Wood Buffalo RCMP confirmed that on April 3, Cardinal had violated Section 94(2) of the Traffic Safety Act which states that “a person shall not drive a motor vehicle on a highway at any time during which that person is an unauthorized driver.”

His mandatory court date is set for May 5, 2022, in Fort Chipewyan.

Councillor Cardinal had also seen charges last year regarding an alleged assault following an incident in Fort Chipewyan in May 2021.
