Spring food drive raises over $26,000 for Wood Buffalo Food Bank

The Wood Buffalo Food Bank is celebrating another successful food drive.

The 8th Annual Servus Spring Food Drive took place over the weekend with the goal of raising funds and food donations for families across the region.

Over the two days, the food drive raised $26,193 and also took in 28,528 pounds of food.

“We would like to extend a big thank you to our amazing volunteers who braved the cold this past weekend to help cover truck shifts and assist us in the warehouse,” says Dan Edwards, Executive Director of the WBFB.

“With the heavy snowfall in our community, coupled with the upcoming Easter weekend, we found it significantly harder to fill our volunteer shifts this year, so we greatly appreciate those who came out to support their local community. ”

Edwards added that the WBFB surpassed its monetary goal for the event, which will go a long way to providing perishable items to clients throughout the spring.
