Alberta expanding eligibility for fourth vaccine dose

The Government of Alberta is expanding eligibility for individuals to receive the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Starting April 12, the following individuals are eligible:

  • Albertans aged 70+
  • First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people 65+
  • All seniors in congregate care
  • Individuals requiring a fourth dose for international travel

Those eligible can book their fourth dose provided it has been at least five months since their third.

Also starting April 12, children aged 6-11 will have the option of receiving the Moderna mRNA vaccine.

The province is also receiving 10,000 doses of the Novavac Nuvaxovid vaccine.

Nuvaxovid is a two-dose protein subunit vaccine that does not use mRNA technology and is approved for those 18+.

Rapid tests are still available at your local pharmacy or AHS assessment centre.
