The spring season comes with blooming flowers and green grass, it also brings rough roads and potholes.

Press Secretary for the Minister of Transportation Rob Williams says that as soon as temperatures are sufficient, maintenance contractors will begin pothole patching on Hwy. 63.

Williams explained that if Albertans encounter any issues, maintenance contractors are required to have a 24-hour toll-free number to call.

Emcon Services is the contractor for the Fort McMurray area. Their toll-free number is 1-800-390-2242.

Alberta Transportation’s procedure for damage claims requires the contractor to investigate and respond to any claims for damages according to Williams.

Claims can be submitted to either Alberta Transportation or directly to the maintenance contractor.

“Safe and reliable roads around the province is of utmost importance to Alberta Transportation, and that includes Highway 63. Larger paving projects are being planned for June and July,” said Williams.
