MLA Brian Jean claiming Premier and UCP not following the law and its own rules

Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche MLA Brian Jean has expressed his distrust over the UCP board allowing the Leadership review to take place by mail.

It was announced on Wednesday that the UCP board has planned to move to a mail-in ballot and to move the in-person event to virtual.

Jean called this ruling a “travesty” during a video released on Facebook on Wednesday saying that this could result in fraudulent votes.

He claims that Premier Jason Kenney signed up thousands of members from Edmonton and Calgary and that they had never paid for their memberships.

Jean says that his team will be calling on Elections Alberta to investigate the possible violation and asking the vote auditor to review every membership added to the list in the last month.

A letter sent out to party members mentioned that more than 15,000 people had registered to participate in the April 9 vote.

MLA Brian Jean ended his video saying that he would have more to say on the topic tomorrow.
