$15,000 presented to the Wood Buffalo You Can Ride 2 program

Wood Buffalo You Can Ride 2 (WBUCR2) is receiving a huge boost to their program thanks to Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities.

Jumpstart is presenting $15,000 through the Community Development Grant to both the FMPSD & FMCSD, as they both take part in the WBUCR2 program.

WBUCR2 is a program that provides adaptive bikes for children with special needs. So far an estimated 400 bikes have been distributed locally in the region since 2018. This year an estimated 130 adaptive bikes will be distributed in May.

Annalee Nutter, FMPSD Superintendent thanks Jumpstart, all the local volunteers, and sponsors for this amazing program.

“Wood Buffalo You Can Ride 2 is a needed initiative, and we thank our staff, volunteers, and sponsors for keeping it going. The smiles we see on children’s faces are beyond precious!”

George McGuigan, FMCSD Superintendent says donations to the WBUCR2 program make kids’ dreams become a reality.

“Riding a bike for the first time is a memory many of us associate with a form of freedom. Our young worlds became larger when we were able to pedal our way around the neighbourhood,” said McGuigan.

“We are so thankful to Jumpstart and all of the organizations who are supporting Wood Buffalo You Can Ride 2. These donations make the dreams of biking around our neighbourhoods and trail system accessible for more of our children.”

Jumpstart is a charity that is committed to ensuring kids in need have equal access to sports and recreation, from helping families cover the costs of registration, transportation, and equipment to providing funds to organizations for recreational infrastructure and programming.
