UCP candidate Brian Jean has been voted in as the new MLA for Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche.
Brian Jean commented during an interview with MixNews that if he were to win, his next goal would be to remove Premier Jason Kenney as UCP leader and premier.
“I’m going to do what people have asked me to do on social media. They’ve asked me to step forward. To give people hope that there could be somebody different other than Jason Kenney leading the UCP next year,” said Jean.
The UCP leadership vote will be held in Red Deer on April 9.
Jean noted that he wasn’t just running to be MLA, he’s also aiming to be the future premier. “If I can be premier of this province and we can get a premier from Fort McMurray, let’s face it, we’re going to have somebody from this region between Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche. That hasn’t happened since the 70s.”
