The Writ of Election has been issued for the Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche byelection, and the premier has waited for the final deadline to make the call.
The election will take place on Mar. 15.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Jason Kenney was asked the question of why he waited till the last moment to call the election.
“We’re not going to call an election, in this case a byelection, in the midst of the Omicron wave. We wanted to, as much as possible, defer discretionary political activities like that until we got well past the Omicron peak,” said Kenney.
