Fort McMurray RCMP arrest four men following drug trafficking investigation

Fort McMurray RCMP have arrested multiple individuals following a drug investigation led by the Wood Buffalo Drug Section alongside the Edmonton Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team.

On Wednesday Feb. 9, a warrant was executed by police in the Timberlea area which resulted in four men being arrested.

RCMP seized 230 grams of suspected cocaine, $1,000 in Canadian currency, 1 loaded firearm, ammunition, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

33-year-old Zakaria Mohamed of Fort Mcmurray and 25-year-old Osman Mohamed of Montreal are facing the following charges:

  • 4 counts of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon

25-year-old Abdirahman Liban Ali of Edmonton and 21-year-old Darya Massirnai of North York, ON, are facing the following charges:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon
  • Production of cocaine

All four individuals were held in custody for a judicial hearing on February 10 and have been released on conditions.

They are scheduled to appear in provincial court on Feb. 22.
