Drug-trafficking investigation in Fort McMurray leads to multiple charges

A warrant was executed and several people arrested in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray following a drug trafficking investigation.  

The investigation was led by the Wood Buffalo Drug Section alongside the Edmonton Alberta Law Enforcement Team. 

A warrant was carried out by the Wood Buffalo RCMP, Crime Reduction Unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services. 

Throughout the course of the investigation, police seized 616 grams of what is believed to be Cocaine, over $41,000 in Canadian currency, 2 firearms, ammunition, and other drug paraphernalia.  

7 individuals have been charged. 

Shane Lawrence Brazil (30) of Spruce Grove, is facing the following charges: 

  • Trafficking Cocaine 
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000.00 
  • Careless Use of a Firearm 

Scott Harrison (26) of Edmonton, AB, Destiny Reid (43) of Saltcoats, SK, Gary Reid (51) of Saltcoats, SK, and Daylon Wade Vangen (22) of Saltcoats, SK, are all facing the following charges: 

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000.00 
  • Careless Use of a Firearm. 

Following a judicial hearing all individuals have been released on conditions and are scheduled to appear at the Fort McMurray Provincial Court House on Feb. 22.  

Two other individuals are also facing charges and arrest warrants have been issued. 

  • Alexander John Cull (36) of Spruce Grove, is facing charges for Trafficking Cocaine. 
  • Zachary Patrick Gallant (32) of Edmonton, is facing charges for Trafficking Cocaine. 

RCMP are asking the public for assistance regarding both, Cull’s and Gallant’s, whereabouts and any information they may have. The public is cautioned not to approach them.
