Local man facing murder charges in the death of Sherri Lynn Flett

The body that was found by Alberta RCMP Major Crimes on Monday has been confirmed as 43-year-old Sherri Lynn Flett. 

Sherri Lynn Flett was last seen on Jan. 12. 

Major Crimes is continuing to investigate the scene where Flett was found, located at a residence in the Grayling Terrace neighbourhood in Fort McMurray. 

On Thursday Jan. 26, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes, along with the assistance of the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Wood Buffalo RCMP and the Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section, arrested 37-year-old Timothy Andrew McDougall of Fort McMurray, he has been charged with the following offences: 

  •        Second Degree Murder of Sherri Lynn Flett
  •        Indignity to human remains
  •        Unlawful confinement
  •        Additional firearms related offences.

Following a judicial hearing, McDougall was remanded into custody and is scheduled to attend Fort McMurray Provincial Court on Jan. 31, 2022.
