Outdoor winter carnival coming to RMWB to celebrate upcoming Arctic Winter Games

The Wood Buffalo 2023 Arctic Winter Games (AWG) Host Society is hosting an outdoor winter carnival.

Coming up on one-year-out from the AWG, the main winter carnival will take place at Vista Ridge on February 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The outdoor winter carnival is a great way to learn more about the history of the Games and the participating contingents in a fun and safe way the whole family can enjoy,” said Nicole Clow, General Manager of the Wood Buffalo 2023 Arctic Winter Games.

“The countdown to the Games has begun, and we look forward to seeing everyone have their Time to Shine in 2023.”

The pop-up event will feature games, trivia, prizes, hot chocolate, and more.

Similar carnivals will be coordinated within the RMWB rural hamlets at the discretion of the community.

The AWG is a celebration of circumpolar sports and culture in the RMWB from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, 2023, highlighting the region and its culture through the spirit of sport to an international audience.
