Residents using public transit in Fort McMurray will now have it much easier when tracking bus times, possible delays, and finding bus locations.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo have just announced that transit live-tracking is now available for Fort McMurray through Google Maps.

Simply by using the Google Maps application on your phone set a destination, and when presented with the mode of travel icons of personal vehicle, transit, walking, or bike, choose transit.

Public Works Director Keith Smith says, “This new live-tracking feature ensures that transit users have access to real-time information on route progress.”

“Being able to easily plan trips and get live updates through Google Maps will improve transit service for existing riders and attract new ones too.”

Smith commented that although extensive testing has been done, resident feedback on the new transit update is essential.
