Premier standing by decision to not make vaccines mandatory

Premier Jason Kenney tweeted out on Friday, “Alberta’s Legislature removed the power of mandatory vaccination from the Public Health Act last year and will not revisit that decision, period.”

This was in response to Quebec’s Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos commenting that they are considering mandatory vaccinations for the province of Quebec.

Duclos was quoted as saying he was starting the conversation in the belief that other provinces and territories will be wanting to discuss it over the next few weeks and months.

Kenney stated that the UCP is strongly encouraging people to get vaccinated but maintains that it is the individual’s personal choice on whether or not to do so, and they will not change that.
