Alberta expanding eligibility for COVID-19 booster dose

The province is expanding their eligibility for those that want their COVID-19 booster shot.

Starting Dec. 2, all Albertans aged 60 and older can book appointments for a booster dose of the vaccine, with the third dose coming at least six months after you received your second dose.

You can book your booster appointment online with the Alberta vaccine booking system or by calling 811.

As of yesterday, according to AHS, 378,507 Albertans have already received their third dose.

84 per cent (or 3,158,027 people) of eligible Albertans 12+ have received two doses, meanwhile 88 per cent (or 3,374,402 people) have received one dose.

Fort McMurray is slightly below the provincial numbers, with 78 per cent (or 51,145 people) with two doses, and 83 per cent (or 54,723 people) with one dose.

The rural area for people aged 12+ is 73 per cent (or 2,488 people) with two doses, and 85 per cent (or 2,867 people) with one dose.

As for active cases of COVID-19, there are 44 in Fort McMurray and 1 in the rural area.
