Harding named AJHL Defensive Player of the Week

A Fort McMurray Oil Baron is getting recognized by the AJHL.

Taige Harding has been named the defensive player of the week for the second time this month.

The third round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 wins this past week.

Harding started the week off with the game winning goal and an assist in Wednesdays game vs the Sherwood Park Crusaders, helping the Oil Barons to a 5-1 victory.

The native of St. Albert, Alberta followed it up Friday night at home against the Whitecourt Wolverines with another game winning goal and assist, before being kept off the scoresheet Saturday night in a 1-0 victory against the Wolverines.

With his strong performance over the weekend, Harding is now second in scoring for the Oil Barons with 26 points (8 G, 18 A) in 26 games.

Harding, who is committed to Providence College in Rhode Island, also won the AJHL Defensive Player of the Week at the start of November.
