85% of COVID patients in the I.C.U. are unvaccinated

Hospital patients residing in I.C.U. beds in the province due to COVID-19 are currently 85% unvaccinated, 3% vaccinated, and 12% Fully vaccinated according to AHS.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw tweeted that with the recent Pfizer vaccine approved for children 5-11, parents need to consider the choice.

Hinshaw noted that children are significantly lower risk of a severe outcome but can still get infected with the virus and transmit it to others.

As of yesterday, the total be in hospital due to the virus went down to of 463 (-55).

ICU numbers also dropped to 98 (-1).

There are 5,311(-517) active cases in Alberta with 79 (-34) in Fort McMurray, and 3 (-4) in the rural areas.

The 7-day rolling average positivity rate across the province is 4.95 per cent, meanwhile in the North Zone it is 10 per cent.
