A member of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons is being recognized for his on ice achievements.

Defenseman Simon Diaz is the Inter Pipeline AJHL rookie of the week after leading all rookies in scoring last week with 5 points.

Diaz had a huge game last Tuesday Oct.26th against the Grande Prairie Storm, where he recorded 2 goals and 2 assists, including the game winner, in a 7-3 victory.

The 18 year old from Calgary, AB has played in 10 games this year with 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists).

The MOB have 3 games on the road this weekend, starting tonight (Friday) in Okotoks against the Oilers, tomorrow (Saturday) vs the Canmore Eagles and Sunday in Camrose vs the Kodiaks.
