Alberta Announces Enhanced Protection To Continuing Care Homes

A new mask mandate is being put in place by the Government of Alberta for continuing care homes.

Starting on Monday October 25th, all visitors to continuing care homes will be required to wear masks indoors at all times, including in residents’ rooms, regardless of vaccination status.

Residents at the facilities will have to quarantine after being admitted or returning from the hospital until they have tested negative for COVID-19.

The only exception to the masking mandate will be to those who may be hard of hearing or have dementia. All exceptions will be determined by the facility staff.

Facility operators at the care homes will have the authority to ask for proof of vaccination or ask you to undergo a rapid test.
