A local small business owner is putting himself forward for the municipal election.
Moving to Fort McMurray back in 2004 from New Brunswick, Jonathan Higdon is looking to occupy one of six ward one council seats.
Higdon says his big 3 focus points for his platform are reducing fly in/fly out, diversifying community investments and helping out young families.
A family man himself, married with 4 daughters, Higdon says he would love to see his kids here in Fort McMurray for generations to come.
“At the end of the day young families are the future of the region, as well as young adults and if we don’t invest currently in that direction and keep people here and to incentivize small families to be here, the future look pretty grim.”
Election day is set for Monday, October 18th.
