RCMP Arrest Three After Collision With Police Vehicles

Wood Buffalo RCMP are charging two individuals involved in hitting two police vehicles.

The Mounties were initiating a check stop on Highway 63 on September 26th, around 12:30am, when a white Ford F150 was observed stopping before reaching the check stop.

When police approached the Ford, the truck made a U-turn and proceeded to drive southbound in the northbound lane, fleeing at a high rate of speed and striking a police vehicle.

The truck then hit another police vehicle head-on in the area of Hospital Street and King Street before coming to a stop.

33 year old Jeremy Richards of Fort McMurray was arrested and charged with:

•         Possession of property obtained by crime

•         Operating a vehicle while prohibited

•         Obstruction

•         Assault

A 31 year old female from Fort MacKay has been released on an undertaking and is facing a number of Criminal and Provincial charges including:

•         Dangerous operation of vehicle

•         Obstruction

•         Possession of property obtained by crime

•         Flight from Police

•         Operating a vehicle without a license

•         Driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

A 26 year old male from Edmonton was released from custody on an unrelated matter and is not facing charges stemming from this incident.

One police officer involved in the collision was taken to hospital and later released.

Police would like to speak to anyone with dash camera footage or who witnessed this occurring.
