Keith McGrath is looking to get re-elected as a Ward 1 Councillor on Wood Buffalo council.
He is one of 24 individuals who’re looking to get one of six urban seats.
After first being elected in 2013, he’s one of two current Ward 1 Councillors to announce their intention to be re-elected in the same role.
A longtime oilsands employee, McGrath also served five terms on the Fort McMurray Catholic School Board of Trustees.
McGrath says he feels togetherness is how the community has gotten through the last five years, and how we’ll continue to move forward.
“As a Councillor, how we lead and engage with the community is important now, more than ever, while never forgetting that we are there to work hard for our bosses – the people that call this place home,” said McGrath.
“We must care and we must take care of each other.”
McGrath cites fiscal responsibility, working towards the right priorities and creating a place where businesses and residents can thrive as his key areas of focus.
“Central to this is always understanding the value of partnerships – especially with Indigenous leadership and communities, industry, local business, social-profit organizations and municipal staff.”
The election is scheduled for October 18, 2021.
