Fifty-three hopefuls have put their names forward for the upcoming election.

The nomination period for the municipal election closed Monday at noon.

There are 11 seats available for council: 1 for the mayor, six for Ward One, two for Ward Two, one for Ward Three and one for Ward Four.

Twelve seats are available for school board trustees, five for the Fort McMurray Catholic School District and seven for the Fort McMurray Public School Division.

The nomination period was open from January 1 to September 20, 2021.

The election will be held on October 18, 2021.
