RMWB’s Active COVID Cases Sitting At 211

Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is continuing to rise.

The province announced on Friday 1,473 new cases over the past 24-hours.

There are currently 16,265 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 266,037 positive tests.

There are also 686 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 169 of which are in ICUs.

Locally, Fort McMurray added 17 new cases and seven recoveries in the past 24 hours which raises the active total to 190.

The rural areas added four new cases and no recoveries, with the total of active cases now sitting at 21.

In total, 7,173 individuals across the RMWB – 6,817 in Fort McMurray and 357 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 247,328 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just under 93 per cent of reported cases.

There was also 10 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total to 2,444.

To date, 18 individuals in Fort McMurray and one in the rural areas have died as a result of the virus.
