Councillor Peddle Seeking Re-Election In Upcoming Municipal Election

Jeff Peddle is looking to get re-elected as a Ward 1 Councillor on Wood Buffalo council.

He is one of 15 individuals who’re looking to get one of six urban seats.

He’s also the only current Ward 1 Councillor to announce their intention to be re-elected in the same role.

Peddle tells Mix News he feels he’ll be able to accomplish a lot more if given another chance to serve the region.

“I think it takes a couple years to get your feet under you in council and now I have my feet under me, I have a great understanding for business so I’m ready to push forward.”

He was first elected back in 2017, receiving the second most votes for Ward 1.

During the term, council was tasked with dealing with the aftermath of the wildfire, the 2020 flood, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peddle says he’s hoping the next council will get the opportunity to focus on bringing in more residents and support those who already live here.

“I think this is a great place… I would like to increase the quality of life for our residents.”

He also wants to see all flood mitigation efforts be completed by 2024.

Meanwhile, Peddle is also in the middle of a court battle.

Back in November 2020, he was charged with voyeurism for allegedly distributing intimate images without consent.

He claims this stems from an incident which took place 3 years ago.

“I’m very confident that a positive outcome will be achieved by everyone here… I’m very positive this will resolved.”

The election is scheduled for October 18, 2021.
