Fort McMurray Man Facing Several Firearms-Related Charges

Wood Buffalo RCMP are charging a local man for several firearm-related offenses.

On August 12, the Mounties pulled over a vehicle on Highway 63 near Beacon Hill Drive.

They discovered the driver, 38-year-old Paul Roland Weber, had a warrant for his arrest.

He’s since been charged with:

  • possessing a firearm without a licence
  • possessing a firearm dangerous to the public
  • careless storage of a firearm
  • occupant of a motor vehicle, knowing there was a firearm
  • possessing a prohibited firearm
  • possessing a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking (Two Counts)
  • unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • failing to comply with conditions of a release order
  • carrying a concealed weapon
  • possession of proceeds of crime
  • possessing illicit cannabis (Two Counts)
  • suspected cannabis within reach of the driver

Weber is also facing several other traffic-related offenses including driving while unauthorized, operating a motor vehicle without certificate of registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle on a highway, unauthorized use of a license plate, mutilate, deface, alter or falsify document, and speeding.

He remains in police custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance in Fort McMurray on August 24, 2021.
