Two Individuals Arrested After Firearms, Drugs & Unlawful Explosives Found In Stolen Truck

Wood Buffalo RCMP are charging two individuals after fleeing a traffic stop on Highway 63.

On August 18, around 4:05 p.m., the Mounties were called after a reportedly stolen pick-up truck fled from an Alberta Sheriff around 10 kms north of Fort McMurray.

They were able to find the vehicle abandoned around six kms away, however, both individuals inside had fled on foot.

The passenger was located near the truck and was subsequently arrested.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Police Dog Services were later called and able to find the driver.

Both individuals, 37-year-old Dallas Lee Loney and 41-year-old Jonathan Gregory Harvey, are from Edmonton.

Loney has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (Two Counts)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Flight from police officer
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Explosives possession without lawful excuse (Two Counts)
  • Resist/obstruct police officer
  • Possession of suspected Methamphetamine

Harvey has since been charged with:

  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 (Two Counts)
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of suspected Methamphetamine
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Explosives possession without lawful excuse (Two Counts)

They’ve both been released from custody and are scheduled to make their next court appearance in Fort McMurray on September 8, 2021.
