Motorcycle Riders Driving Cross Country To Raise Funds For Cancer Research

A group of friends will be driving cross country to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Starting on Tuesday, Annie Lelievre and members of the Metal Saints will be traveling from Fort McMurray to Gaspé, Quebec.

They’re coming off a 200 km ride along Highway 63 to honour all the individuals who’ve died on the road.

Lelievre tells Mix News, despite the long trip, it wasn’t hard to find the motivation to do the ride.

“Two of the ladies that ride with me have lost their fathers within the last couple of years due to cancer and we have a lot of girlfriends right now battling cancer.”

She adds it’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t been affected by cancer in one way or another.

Along with her friends, Lelievre notes she knows of several others, including some children, in town who are facing a bigger challenge.

“All the ones battling right now, we’re doing this for you guys.”

The group is taking the next couple weeks off to complete the ride.

They plan on flying provincial flags while riding through each province. They’re hoping to have different individuals sign their names in support of the ride.

They’re hoping to raise around $1,000, however, they’re happy for any amount they can get.
