Over $1M In Homelessness Grants Being Given To Centre of Hope, Salvation Army, & Wellness Society

Three local non-profits are receiving funds to help them continue supporting the homeless.

Wood Buffalo council met virtually on Tuesday where they approved allocating just over $1.1 million to the Centre of Hope, Salvation Army, and Wood Buffalo Wellness Society.

The funds are coming from the federal government through the ‘Reaching Home’ initiative.

The Centre of Hope is getting nearly $317,000 for their graduate program.

The Salvation Army is receiving roughly $64,000 for their diversion program.

The Wellness Society is getting three grants – around $445,000 for their housing first program, just under $150,000 for their outreach program, and approximately $75,000 for a coordinator position.

The RMWB is also using $50,000 on Indigenous training for their employees.
