You’re being reminded to be extra careful when driving along Highway 881.

Wood Buffalo RCMP decided to hold a vehicle checkstop last week after receiving multiple traffic complaints and seeing three recent commercial vehicle accidents.

A fourth accident happened after the stop which involved a vehicle driving into Gregoire Lake.

During the day, they ended up handing out 15 tickets and 18 warnings.

They also conducted 12 safety inspections.

The Mounties are asking those who use the road to be extra careful around turns, to obey all posted signage, and to follow all traffic laws.

Anyone who sees someone using the road dangerously is encouraged to contact RCMP at 780-788-4040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
