Speeding in school zones continues to be a problem across the community.
Earlier this month, Wood Buffalo RCMP conducted an enforcement initiative at different schools in Timberlea and downtown.
They were joined by the municipal traffic unit, bylaw services, and community relations.
During the day, the Mounties handed out 28 tickets – eight of which were just warnings.
One warrant was also executed during the initiative.
The police are reminding motorists speed limits decrease to 30 km/h during school hours. It goes back up to 50 km/h after the school day is over.
Those who see someone speeding in a school zone, or any other criminal/ suspicious activity, are encouraged to contact RCMP at 780-788-4040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
