Keyano College Looking To Increase International Student Enrollment Through New Partnership

Keyano College is looking to attract more international students with their new partnership with Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development & Tourism.

Through the multi year agreement, Keyano College is hoping to see a 70 percent increase in enrollment in international students, which in turn is expected to have an annual economic impact of over $3 million dollars for the region.

“This will not only benefit Keyano College by increasing international student enrolments but our community as well, culturally and economically,” said Dale Mountain, Keyano Interim President and CEO.

“[FMWBEDT] diversity is one of the key strengths of our region and this partnership will expand our ability to attract students from other areas of the world.”

The two organizations are expecting this to help increase part time labour for businesses, housing occupancy demand, cultural diversity, and bring new innovation and entrepreneurship to the region.

“Our organization was established to co-create shared economic value for our region,” added Kevin Weidlich, President & CEO of FMWBEDT.

“This partnership exemplifies the importance of working together to achieve local economic prosperity for Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo. The attraction of talent and international students will yield long-term, sustainable benefits for our community and fortify our regional strengths of diversity and community spirit.”

The partnership has short, medium, and long-term programs such as agent familiarization tours and incentives for international student applicants.
