Suncor & Syncrude Setting Up Additional Vaccine Clinics On-Site

Oilsands employees are getting an opportunity to get their second COVID-19 vaccine sooner than first thought.

Suncor Energy is partnering with Alberta Health Services and International SOS to set up additional clinics at Base Plant on Friday and Saturday.

Back in May, thousands of employees at Suncor, Syncrude, and CNRL took advantage of clinics for first doses.

To be eligible, you must have gotten the AstraZeneca vaccine on or before April 23, while those who got Moderna or Pfizer must have received their first dose on or before May 28.

Those who got their shot in May are getting the chance to get their second earlier than the rest of the province.

Right now, only those who received their first dose in April or earlier can book a time with Alberta Health Services.

“Everyone with site access to Base Plant, regardless of provincial residence, age, or employment company is eligible for on-site vaccination,” the company said.

Employees can either book an appointment through Suncor’s website, asking their team lead, or by simply walking-in.

Those still needing their first dose can also book a time.

Meanwhile, Syncrude is holding clinics at Aurora and Mildred Lake on June 21 and 25.

Spokesperson Will Gibson says they will be offering first and second doses.

Transportation will also be provided to and from the clinics.
