Heavy Item Pickup Program, Big Bin Events Back For Another Year

The RMWB’s heavy item pickup program is back for another year.

From May 25 to June 1, residents can register to have four large household items picked up curbside.

Once registered, households will be given a pickup date between June 7-16.

Registration is limited and all registered items must be put along the curbside by 8 a.m. on the assigned pickup day.

Acceptable items include sofas, couches, loveseats, chairs, mattresses, box springs, exercise equipment – such as treadmills and ellipticals, dressers, stoves, dishwashers, washing machine, dryers, large televisions (24-inch tube or 27 inches and larger), refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water coolers, and kitchen and dining room tables.

The program is free but additional fees will apply for CFC-containing refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water coolers, mattresses, and box springs. The fees will be added to the property’s monthly utility bill.

You can register through the RMWB’s website or by calling Pulse at 780-743-7000 or toll-free at 1-800-973-9663.

Meanwhile, those who don’t register can personally throw away their items at one of the municipality’s Big Bin events.

These events are also free, however, there will be fees for the same items in the pickup program.

Residents will be required to provide a photo ID and proof of address before depositing these select items with the fees once again being added to the monthly utility bill.

The events will take place between May 29 to June 26 throughout the community and surrounding areas.

  • May 29 – Downtown (MacDonald Ave.)
  • June 6 – Timberlea (Syncrude Athletic Park)
  • June 12 – Thickwood (Centerfire Place)
  • June 19 – Saprae Creek Estates (Vista Ridge)
  • June 26 – Anzac (Anzac Recreation Centre)
  • June 26 – Gregoire Lake Estates (Lift Station Parking Lot)

They all will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
