Organizations are being encouraged to apply to receive free rapid COVID-19 testing kits.
The Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications from businesses and non-profits that plan on using them to help identify pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic cases.
This includes non-members.
The government of Alberta announced last week they’re partnering with Chambers across the province to help get these kits into communities.
So far, 12 local companies have applied and will receive a total of 2,000 tests over a seven-month period.
Those interested in taking part in the first wave of kits will need to register by 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Applications received afterward will be included in future orders.
There are few things participating companies must follow to take part.
If a positive case is found, individuals will need to schedule a follow-up test with Alberta Health Services to ensure it isn’t a false positive.
They must also provide the Chamber weekly reports that include the number of tests performed, the number of positive results, and how many were re-confirmed by AHS.
They must also ensure those administering the tests have adequate training. The GoA has made training resources available on their website.
