Fort Chipewyan Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Multiple Firearms, Breaking & Entering

A Fort Chipewyan man is being charged for allegedly stealing multiple firearms.

On April 6, RCMP in the hamlet were made aware of a number of previously unreported break and enters of sheds and outbuildings.

After investigating, they arrested 25-year-old Keifer Mercredi, while also being able to recover four firearms.

He’s since been charged with two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, two counts of breaking and entering to steal a firearm, two counts of transferring a firearm without authority, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and three counts of weapons trafficking.

Mercredi has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a Fort Chipewyan courtroom on June 3, 2021.
