A Fort McMurray man is being charged for allegedly trying to lure a 13-year-old girl.

On March 12, ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation unit arrested 48-year-old Pulenthirakumer Arulamapalan in west Edmonton after receiving a tip from the public.

They claim he traveled down to Edmonton to meet an underage girl for sex.

“ICE believes our intervention and arrest prevented a sexual assault,” said Staff Sergeant Mike Zaparyniuk.

“This is another all-too real reminder for parents to take a proactive role in understanding who your children are engaging and talking with online.”

He has since being charged with child luring, obtaining sex services of a child for consideration, possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography, and
making child pornography available.
