RMWB Phasing Out Glass Collecting Bins Across Community

The RMWB is phasing out their glass collecting bins throughout the community.

Glass is not currently recycled at the landfill and while there were many collection bins for it, they were to protect workers from getting hurt.

“Having glass disposed of at the Recycling Depots was the safest option at the time and helped reduce the risk of our collection crews coming into contact with glass during normal curbside collection operations,” read a statement from the RMWB.

Now that the collection truck fleet is fully automated, residents can place their glass in their black bins with their regular household waste for pickup.

The municipality is asking residents with broken or sharp pieces of glass to wrap it up or place it inside a closed plastic container before putting it in the garbage bag.
