Three Arrested After Drug Seizure in Thickwood

A drug bust in Fort McMurray is leading to the arrest of three individuals.

On February 24, ALERT’s Fort McMurray organized crime team searched two homes in Thickwood where they found nearly $80,000 worth of drugs and cash.

This included 522 grams of suspected cocaine.

Their investigation began in December 2020 after getting information about possible drug activity in the region.

As a result, Fort McMurray residents Jennifer Stacey, 28, and James Jackman, 53, were arrested along with 29-year-old Amanullah Khan from Calgary.

Stacey has since been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of proceeds of crime, while Jackman has been charged with drug trafficking.

Khan was handed six charges which included possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of body armour, and obstructing a peace officer.

“Organized crime and drug trafficking brings violence, property crime, addiction, and health consequences to our communities. ALERT will continue to work alongside Wood Buffalo RCMP to disrupt the region’s drug trade,” said Insp. Sean Boser, ALERT Regional teams.

Anyone with information on potential drug or gang activity is asked to call local police at 780-788-4040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-545-8477 (TIPS).
