Multiple Organizations Donating Feminine Hygiene Products To Regional High Schools

Multiple local organizations and businesses are donating around 800 feminine hygiene kits to high schools across the region.

United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo, the Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Printing Unlimited, and Chocolates and Candlelight are distributing the products to schools in the Fort McMurray Catholic School Division, Fort McMurray Public School Division, and Northland School Division.

The partnership is being created in recognition of International Women’s Day.

“If we remove barriers for young girls, we help them on their journey to becoming successful women,” said Cathy Steeves, Executive Director United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo.

Each kit includes feminine hygiene products, helpful information about the 211 referral service which helps connect individuals with vital community and social resources, and a chocolate treat.

“The purpose of this initiative is to ensure local girls have free access to feminine hygiene products and can attend school with confidence,” added Steeves.
