Fort McMurray Social Worker Found Guilty Of Possessing, Accessing Child Pornography

An employee with Alberta Children’s Services has been found guilty of possessing and accessing child pornography.

Henry Haineault was in a Fort McMurray courtroom on Friday where a judge found him guilty on both charges he faced.

He had pled not guilty which resulted in a multi-day trial.

Back in 2018, Haineault was arrested by ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation unit after they were contacted by the Athabasca Tribal Council claiming they found photos of child pornography on a computer he used while working for the organization.

They add his work computer with Children’s Services in High Level also contained photos.

The two computers allegedly contained thousands of pictures.

ALERT notes both charges against him are online related, however, they were extremely concerned at the time as his employment put him in direct contact with children.

Haineault is scheduled to make his next court appearance on March 23 where they’ll set a sentencing date.
