WinterPlay Returns to the RMWB, Some Activities Require Registration

Fort McMurray’s winter festival is back for another year.

WinterPlay begins today through February 28th at the Snye.

Residents can participate in multiple free activities including skating, dog sled rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, a walk through light tunnel, drive-in fireworks, ice sculptures, and more.

Due to COVID -19 restrictions, some activities require prior registration on Eventbrite.

When registration opened on February 16th, the dog sled and horse-drawn wagon rides sold out almost immediately.

A spokesperson with the RMWB said, unfortunately, at this time they do not have the capacity to add more spots however, residents are encouraged to check back regularly as cancellations may occur.

Residents can also enter a draw to skate on the Snye while the fireworks are happening overhead.

Though the event is entirely outside, masks are required at all times while on the premises except when skating.

More information can be found on the RMWB’s website.
