Local Man Arrested For Allegedly Threatening MP Yurdiga

A 62-year-old Fort McMurray man is being charged after allegedly threatening a local politician.

On February 16, Wood Buffalo RCMP were contacted by the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, from the House of Commons in Ottawa, claiming David Yurdiga, MP for Fort McMurray-Cold Lake, had received multiple threats from Brad Love.

Fort McMurray RCMP General Investigation Section took over the investigation and arrested Love later that day.

He’s since been charged with indecent telephone call with intent to alarm and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Love has been released and is scheduled to appear in a Fort McMurray courtroom on March 17, 2021.

Meanwhile, the RCMP note Parliament Hill Security are continuing to assess the situation and have also taken measures to ensure the safety of Yurdiga and his staff.
