Suncor Taking Part In Pilot Project Aimed At Rapid COVID-19 Tests

Suncor Energy is taking part in a pilot project aimed at rapid COVID-19 tests.

The Creative Destruction Lab Rapid Screening Consortium is a partnership between 12 companies that are trying out a new screening process for the virus.

This includes Suncor, Air Canada, Scotiabank, and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Individuals will get either a nasal or throat swab and find out whether they have the virus in roughly 15 minutes.

So far, Suncor has tested the new program on several individuals including Mel Grandjamb, Chief of the Fort McKay First Nation.

The goal of the program is to determine whether it will make screening more efficient moving forward.

The costs will also be a big factor as the tests reportedly cost less than $10.

“Rapid screens can be applied at our workplaces to monitor people frequently, break chains of transmission and make those places safer,” read the CDL Rapid Screening Consortium’s website.
